Updates – please read!

The past several days with Steven’s parents has been very busy. I had my performance with the San Fernando Valley Symphony on Saturday. I had my fan club there, and my English Horn solos went well!On Sunday we had some people over (pictures to come soon) and we cooked a ton of food. It was a lot of fun and nice to show everyone the new house and for them to meet Steven’s parents. I made an experimental Persimmon pudding (like a bread pudding) and I have to tell you, I’m just not sure about it. It tasted good, but the consistency was not like other bread puddings I have seen. However, slap some ice cream on it and it works pretty good!

Now to the important stuff: Some of you may not be aware of the situation with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra in Florida where my parents perform. The short of it is, when the musicians didn’t agree to the last offer by the Association for their new contract, the Association canceled two weeks of concerts and locked the doors. To get the whole story, please visit www.jsomusicians.org. It has been over a week now, and after a lot of media coverage and public support, the Association is still not willing to change their last offer and negotiate with the musicians affected by the lockout. The most important thing is to contact the people listed on the website asking them to do something about what has happened. Please send letters or emails to let the management know that live music is vital to the future of Jacksonville and is not something that should lightly be forgotten. A benefit concert is scheduled for Sunday, November 25 (more details on the website) so if you’re in town please go and show your support.
