We had a great time on Friday with our friends watching the new Battlestar Galactica – it was pretty fraking amazing. Steven miraculously got better in order to enjoy it properly.

My friend Dana had her baby, Bryan David, and he is adorable! I can’t wait to see him in person in a few weeks!

Sunday we were lucky enough to get last minute tickets to the LA Phil concert, with Gustavo Dudamel conducting. Dudamel is the 26 year old conductor from Venezuela who will be the new Music Director of the LA Phil in 2009-10. His concerts have been sold out from the beginning of the season, so thanks to my friends at the Phil for getting us in! It was very inspiring

We are looking forward to coming to Florida in May for Mike and Keri’s wedding, but now I’m starting to get stressed out the timing. I am happy to say that I’ll be taking an audition for the Rochester Philharmonic (that’s right, in frigid Rochester, NY) for 2nd oboe/english horn. This will be a great audition experience for the type of job and level I would be looking for. The concern is that the auditions are the day after the wedding, so that’s not very much time! I might also be auditioning for the Honolulu Symphony (3rd oboe/english horn), which seems to me would be much nicer! However, the audition would be in Chicago

I had rehearsal last night for the San Fernando Valley Symphony again, this concert is Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4 and Brahms Piano Concerto. I’m playing first oboe this concert, and it will be great experience playing these classic pieces.
