Sorry, it’s been a while since I’ve done a blog. As usual, things are staying busy.
A couple of weeks ago I was asked to do a recording session at the last minute. It was a really interesting experience doing just woodwind tracking in a real studio in Hollywood. It was for several songs for an upcoming CD by Ray Vega, a singer with a well known song in 1997. (see the video here) It was a lot of fun working with the producer and the singer, but it was really challenging trying to play exactly the way they wanted. It also lasted almost 5 hours, which was more than I had anticipated.
Valentine’s Day came and went, and I have to confess, I forgot to get my husband a card.
He now gets to hold it over my head (for a little while, anyway) that I forgot him on Valentine’s Day. We hadn’t planned to do much, and ended up having a nice dinner out. We spent time with the puppy during the break in the rain by exploring Griffith Park. I also fell out of a tree, simply because I’m an idiot. One more thing for Steven to make fun of me for.
I’ve been playing with a couple local symphonies this month (some better than others) which is keeping me busy. I’m also working to plan a studio recital for my students in April, which I’m very excited about!

Well, it managed to become February before I got around to posting another blog… sorry about that.
One of our New Year’s resolutions was to spend more time together, and to do some of the things we keep saying we want to do. One way we accomplish that is by getting up earlier to have breakfast together. Something we’ve always said we wanted to do was to go to Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles, a famous, true Southern eating establishment in Hollywood. They are well known for fried chicken and waffles, which I think was something invented in Atlanta? Anyway, we were thrilled to get some real southern food – and it was GOOD.
I decided to have the classic meal, chicken and waffles, while Steven went all out on a fried chicken dinner.
And what meal would be complete without sweet tea?
One of the main reasons Steven had to drive by himself to Florida (and back) was because I was having weird eye problems. I was so sensitive to light that I really couldn’t drive, and it was a little scary. I had an opthamologist check it out, and he said I have Ocular Rosacea. So, I wasn’t going crazy, there was a real reason why I was so sensitive! Read here to learn more.
