Update

train to san diego beach

Last Tuesday I took the train to San Diego for an audition at the San Diego Symphony for Principal oboe. It was a strange audition experience for me personally, as I didn’t feel overwhelmingly good or bad about my performance. I wasn’t advanced, and got to enjoy the beautiful sunset ride back to Los Angeles.

I had a fun gig this past weekend, playing English Horn with the Aisa America Symphony Orchestra. We played the West Side Story Suite (so much fun) and the second half was backing up the singer Lea Salonga. She is very well known for originating the role of Kim in “Miss Saigon,” and was the singing voice of Jasmine and Mulan for Disney!

Saturday is my recital, which I’m thinking of more like a salon musicale type thing than a formal recital. This is a weird week for me, and I need to try to stay focused on the performance on Saturday. I’ll let you know how that goes.

This past weekend was spent getting things prepared for Europe – we leave on June 20!!! Very exciting. :)
