LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl
Aug 10th 2009VictoriaNews and Updates
The next week I was thrilled to play 2nd oboe with the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl on an all-Beethoven program under Bramwell Tovey. To say that I was thrilled is actually an understatement, but no matter how I was feeling I kept my cool.
I felt good about my performances, even with the intimidation of being on the huge screen and the stress of my oboe not wanting to work. It was also really neat to see some of my friends/colleagues from the Phil as a musician. I was very grateful for the opportunity!

It’s hard to miss us on the jumbotron:
Steven, Jessi, Dave and Heather came to see me play! (thanks to Jessi for the free tickets):
The crazy thing about that week was that in addition to playing with the Phil I was driving up and down to the central coast of California to San Luis Obispo. I was playing 3rd oboe on the Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 as part of Festival Mozaic. I loved hearing my teacher Anne play principal on the Brandenburg as well as play one of my favorite solos, the Bach double concerto for violin and oboe. It was fun to meet new people/reconnect with people and hang out in the cute little town. Big thanks to my host family Linda and Mike who put up with all of my coming and goings with grace and understanding!
