Kansas City…

I went to Kansas City this past Sunday as the Symphony was holding auditions for principal oboe. I played first thing on Monday morning, and had probably the best audition I have played so far. I didn’t advance, but was overall pleased with how I played personally.
When I got out of the audition I was shocked to see it absolutely POURING in downtown KC, with thunder and lightening. I was actually thrilled since I don’t get to see much rain in LA, but was a little nervous that all that mess might create a tornado or something 
I was happy to spend time Monday afternoon with my friend Anthony from high school who just started playing bassoon with the Symphony. We got some good barbeque and saw some lovely fountains and areas of Kansas City before taking me to the airport. I apparently got out just in time to avoid a big storm that was delaying flights, and Apollo was overjoyed when I came home Monday night.
Saturday was a farewell party to our friends Rachel and Josh, who are moving to Houston. We are so happy for them to start out their marriage as an associate pastor and youth minister at the same church, but are going to miss their friendship. I am taking things easy this week, just teaching and getting out fall decorations. Friday Steven and I fly to Florida for his 10 year high school reunion in Vero Beach – should be fun!
